When the Voice Falls Silent

Perhaps this is slightly off the usual message of effective communication. But perhaps it’s the most important lesson of all.

For each of us, there will be a final word, after which is eternal silence. What has not been spoken will forever remain unspoken.

Do you have a loved one who is in the twilight of their days? There are parts of their lives about which you know little or nothing. Now is the time to ask them to share their stories with you. “Dad, what parts of the world did you visit while your were in the Navy?” “Mum, what did it feel like when you arrived at Pier 21?” Or try the old photograph with faces you don’t recognize. It’s not hard to get this started.
I’m willing to guarantee that you will enrich not only your life, but theirs and many more.

We hope these little tips are helpful to you in your enterprise, your career and your personal life. If you like what you see, feel free to pass it along, so long as you acknowledge copyright and provide a link to www.purposeful.ca.
