Special Edition– Please Read Now

My friend Lorne Kelton is a very special guy who has just finished a very special short movie with a very special message. Several very special messages, actually. The short movie tells of a homeless man who finds good homes for homeless dogs.

I’d encourage you to watch it, but please ASAP. As it happens Lorne’s film is currently in a film festival and has a chance to go on to the finals. It needs my support, and yours, which you can do simply by “liking” the Facebook entry (https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid0DGCtYhH9QpXturNxXNVG3xwrosrSpYUSYcgXYunWy6WdBQpvzStG6eVWCigp5vtPl&id=100068657946592&post_id=100068657946592_pfbid0DGCtYhH9QpXturNxXNVG3xwrosrSpYUSYcgXYunWy6WdBQpvzStG6eVWCigp5vtPl&eav=AfYn6qKj7KqJt04dPzxssd9MLMFYOC6g4pu8YMJ_zB2mvPDy-tE4F17cqRy981qmw6Q&m_entstream_source=feed_mobile&paipv=0&_rdr) , then clicking on the Youtube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOTrMJAYZco) . Contest ends May 31.

If you like touching short stories, dogs, gorgeous cinematography, and hopeful messages lifted out of the gritty streets of old Montreal, you’ll love this, and want to send it on!

Twelve minutes of joy and wonder.

Please watch, please support by “liking” on Facebook and watching on Youtube. And pass this on! (http://us12.forward-to-friend.com/forward?u=c5b0c09025ad045bf11bb02f5&id=cfb7ba3538&e=[UNIQID])

Before you conclude I have finally lost it (and not without evidence), the title is actually a close approximation of a Scots English rendering of “How now, brown cow?”. And a wonderful example of what has happened (and continues to happen) with English pronunciation. Interestingly enough, Middle English pronunciation was much closer to the current…

  • Mutual Duplicity

International mutual duplicity is nothing new. On August 24, 1939, Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Molotov for the Soviet Union and Joachim von Ribbentrop for Nazi Germany signed the Treaty of Non-Aggression between Germany and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, generally known as the Molotov-Ribbentrop Agreement. By it, Russia and Germany not only agreed not to attack…

As Karen and I approach our fiftieth wedding anniversary, I understand better each day that I am and have been a very lucky man. I will be the first to say that being married to me is no easy task, yet my dear wife has been unwavering through thick and thin, my confidante, my cheerleader,…

  • Expense? Or Investment?

My friend and speaking colleague Mark Gasparotto, former Canadian army colonel, puts it bluntly: “Leadership training is an investment, not an expense.” Having led troops “outside the wire” in Afghanistan, he knows whereof he speaks. He could not be more correct about leadership training, in fact about any developmental exercise which enhances the value and…

  • Let Me Finish

I hate it when someone needs to say to me, “Let me finish!” because it means I’ve been caught being rude and interruptive. And whenever that happens, it’s because I have been presumptuous, assuming that the only good ideas in the room were mine. Unfortunately, it’s a lesson I keep needing to learn. It’s more…
